Betsson has obtained title sponsorship of the Pernambuco State Championship in Brazil.

With the tournament entering its 108th year, the Swedish gaming company seeks to bolster its standing in the Latin American market. To accomplish this, Betsson will implement various promotional and public relations campaigns throughout the season, commencing on January 22nd, officially recognized as the “2022 Betsson Pernambuco Championship.”

Evandro Carvalho, Head of the Pernambuco Football Federation (FPF), emphasized the championship’s impressive audience reach, noting, “The 2021 Pernambuco Championship final shattered viewership records, exceeding even the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro championships as per TV Globo.”

He added, “Betsson’s backing is crucial, enabling us to further invest in Pernambucan football and cover expenses for all game officials, including referees, linesmen, and VAR during the final matches.”

Carvalho conveyed assurance in the collaboration, stating, “Betsson is an industry frontrunner that acknowledges the solid standing our federation has established over the years.”

Active in Brazil since 2019, Betsson became the primary sponsor of Íbis Sport Club in 2021. Notably, Íbis, a founding entity of the FPF, rejoins the Pernambuco Championship’s premier division in 2022 after a 21-year hiatus.

Situated in northeastern Brazil, Pernambuco boasts a population of 9.6 million, making it the nation’s seventh most populated state. This alliance signifies Betsson’s dedication to broadening its presence within this substantial market.

Betsson is ecstatic to sponsor the Pernambuco Championship, a significant and storied soccer competition in Brazil,” shared Andre Gelfi, Head of Betsson Brazil. “Expanding upon the positive reception we’ve experienced regionally through our support of Ibis Sport Club, we are confident this collaboration will acquaint even more enthusiasts with Betsson while enabling us to connect with them through novel and engaging avenues.”
